Appfire's Real-time Status Emitter (ARSE)

The Appfire Real-time Status Emitter is a live information messaging system that provides our entire company with relevant data about what's happening both internally and externally.

This video submission represents two types of ARSE's within Appfire. The 1st is one of our general company wallboards, and the 2nd is one that we've built to add a little levity to our day. We believe that in addition to having centralized wallboards, our team should also be able to create their own Frankenstein versions!

Ok, so here's a quick snapshot of the tools, platforms and technologies that drive our ARSE:

- We currently have 36 custom widgets that each employee can select for display within their own wallboard. These widgets represent a wide-array of information spanning Operations, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Product Support, Software & Systems Engineering.

- The platform is powered by Geckoboard (http://geckoboard.com). This excellent web-based tool is still currently in beta but we signed up early to help exercise their system ...and man are we impressed!

- We're pulling dynamic data from JIRA, GreenHopper, Confluence, ZenDesk, MailChimp, Twitter, GMail, Google Analytics, Google Calendar and a few other internal systems.

- We're leveraging a combination of XML and JSON for feeds transported over SSL

- We also use a few creative 'social integrations' using custom feeds from a handful of other of sources (such as Google Image Search) which drive our fun wallboards.
