I was about 14 when this movie played on TV and I remember it scaring the hell out of me. Now, the true story is still horrific, but the movie is very dated, the acting weak - though Steve Railsback does a decent job as Manson.

And who is doing that lame-ass cover of Helter Skelter that's playing n the car??? It really sucks.

@nyre455 Like why discuss Manson lies when the important thing is what it would be like to have lesbian sex with Lynnette and Linda

@Buddypalbro The claim by the Manson girls that Linda planned the whole thing as a copycat murder was nonsense. All the women have since admitted it was a ruse to throw the jury off & spread confusion. The various stories about it in their testimony never made sense and never added up. Even people like Catherine Share have admitted it was not true. They wanted to make Linda look bad to create Reasonable Doubt in the case against them & against Manson. Also, Manson chose not to put on a defense.

not to mention the music, editing etc

People ... get your facts straight. Tex NEVER admitted to tying up the LaBiancas; all of the killers indicate Manson entered the LaBianca residence prior to sending in Watson, Krenwinkle and Van Houten. Also, Manson - and each of the defendants - had the right to "put on" a defense; they chose not to .. Manson testified out of the jury's presence, then said he didn't need to formally testify and the girls' attorneys rested the case because each of them wanted to try freeing Manson.

@Planktontwo Love your neighbors by wishing death upon them? The "evidence" presented at the manson trial was shameful, seeing how manson wasn't even allowed to put on a defense on the grounds of "he might convince the jury to believe him"... what? Linda was accused (by those involved in the murders) of planning copy-cat crimes to free her lover beausoleil. She was then given immunity to say manson planned every single murder- somehow convincing people to do it for little to no reason.

@retrovertigoes Bamdana seems to think Manson was completely innocent of any crimes here and I pointed out to him that if he indeed is, then why would Hitler have been prosecuted and likely executed for genocide and the killing of 6 million Jews? My point simply is that Manson was guilty as charged but too should have been executed. Hope that explains it. To say that genocide is an accepted practice is totally wrong. God has told us to love our neighbors as ourself.
