Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

In December of 2004, I decided to record a holiday record. Aptly but boringly, I called it "December". In my opinion, this songs is one of the highlights. A great deal of that has to do with the vocals. I was grateful to have my friend Sam Brooker sing on this track, and I think he did a fantastic job.

The tune, written by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane, made it's debut in 1944 when Judy Garland sang it in the musical Meet Me in St. Louis.

I added some old home movies of holidays with my family, and these date from between 1979 and 1982. Generally it was my mother at the helm of the video camera, my father more interested in shooting still pictures.

I hope you like it. And I hope that however you spend the season...even if you don't celebrate anything... you are surrounded by loved ones and enjoying that blessing in itself. Any gift beyond that is just sprinkles on the sand tart.

Technical info for all you interested elves out there. I recorded and mixed this using Cubase version 2 through a Presonus 8 channel firewire interface. The piano and string sounds are from a Yamaha SO-3 keyboard. Bass is a Fernandes Jazz bass from the mid 90's. Electric guitar is an SA-50 Yamaha hollow body electric from the mid 60's. I arranged and played everything in my then bedroom in the Green Hills neighborhood of Nashville, TN. Another huge thanks to Sam for the beautiful vocals.
