why are there lines when you zoom in? is it the problem of the camera or just when you put it on youtube it gets like this?

I shoot firearm videos inside at very close range and outside with various lighting conditions. I frequently film in a windy environment. I am currently using a Sony standard definition camera but need to upgrade soon. Do you think the SD90 would be suitable for my purposes?
