How can I not hate? I was their when you were. I was the only surviver of my unit attacked by North Vietnam Regulars. It's hard not to hate, when I can't drive, or even walk down a stairway. It's hard not to hate with so many injuries I have to live with. You have your exercise book, and I have trouble even lifting a book. Worse of all, I can't even satisfy my wife in a way only a husband has the privilege of doing. How can I not hate? Sp5 F.J. Miles, 1st Special Forces Group, Vietnam

UNLIKE most of us, you weren't strong enough to overcome this and consequently, did as much damage as you possibly could, to the finest people of your era. Ironically, we've got something in common. While you were there, I was there. I was the only survivor of my unit attacked near Doc Phau, by not Viet Cong but The North Vietnam Regular Army. When I left Vietnam and got off of the Plane, I was pelted by rotten eggs and tomatoes that she claimed didn't happen. I received handgrenade fragments in my brain and my legs. I was also shot. Since then I've had 11 heart stints, seizures, and severe PTSD, yet she has no guilt over her insensitivity towards those who were there getting killed.
