Drink Me is a lifestyle magazine about the art and culture of alcohol. We're throwing a launch party at the end of the month and wanted to make a video to celebrate it!

update: We've gotten a lot of questions on how we did this, so here's some info about the video.

It is 100% animation, except for the final shot. It was shot on a Nikon D80, with Nikor Prime Lenses, tethered by USB to a macbook pro. We used animaide xt to grab our frames remotely. We used a Panasonic HVX200 for the final shot.

We collected and cleaned over 500 bottles from bars near our office, and held a "Casting session" where we casted over 300 bottles for this video.

About 1990 still photos were taken during the production of this video.

It took 2 weeks prepare for this video. First there were animation tests, then thumbnail story boards, then a rough videomatic, made from simple pictures of the bottles, then an 2-d computer animatic put together in flash. These tools allowed us to get a closer and more precise sense of exactly how many frames would be needed for each shot. Many of the shots were frame specific and had their duration had be figured out before we shot.

Shmaltz Brewing Co. is awesome! They donated all the beer for the two shots we needed matching beer labels for and even let us keep the beer when we were done! Thanks so much guys.

We shot for 36 hours over 2 days inside Bollyhood Cafe, a rad bar in the Mission, in San Francisco, 3 blocks from our office. Check them out if you're in the neighborhood.
