I am endlessly thankful for all of the wonderful, insightful, well-worded comments on this video! I posted it in what I felt was a futile attempt to honor Cyd upon hearing of her passing, but it appears to be as pretty, poetic, timeless and touching to many other people as it is to me.

May I just say that Cyd's fans - whom I assume all of you represent - are doubtlessly the most articulate and thoughtful of all YouTube users? Your comments are a wonderful testament to Cyd's talent and legacy.

We'll never see the likes of this kind of talent again. Gene and Cyd in one of the most beautiful dance numbers put on film. As a tear rolls down my face, I thank God for Gene and Cyd. It was through their beautiful dance moves that got me through some rough times in my life.

It's simply enchanting-there are no other words to describe it. I have always loved this dance, and Gene and Cyd make a wonderful team and complement each other well. The way they dance so smoothly and fluently it's almost as if they're dancing on air. The whole thing seems like a dream. Beautiful.

You can pick up the VHS for a few bucks online, and have you tried the library? Just so you know, some songs from the Broadway show were cut out of the movie version (some of those are extras on the DVD.)My neighbor was in our high school production of it, and it was pretty cool.

does anyone know where I can watch the full movie of brigadoon with gene kelly? My school is doing it for the spring musical this year & i'd like to know the story before I audition.

I couldn't sleep so I put on this dance, and, it was like a lullaby, so soothing. A total contrast to their jazzy "Broadway" dance a few years before, but just as fabulous. I love the part at 4:30 where Gene's balancing on a tree and holding Cyd's hand. Gene had this "floaty" quality that sometimes got hidden under all that tapping. Combine that with her fluidity and you've got pure beauty and magic.

A dose of artistic surprise to see Kelly don full-out the fluid grace so inherent in his livelier tap numbers, and channel it into this marvelous ballet sequence.

And Cyd's gentle precision; different than it was in such jazzy performances as Singing in the Rain, but she naturally lends herself to this form. The scene has an innocence about it that manifests itself in both the music and movement.

The respective styles are complemented wonderfully as they blend together within the heather.
