The 2008 Reno Air Races had three Grumman F7F Tigercats as visitors this year. They went out as a flight for a photo-run over Pyramid Lake and then returned to Stead. Asking one of the pilots what he thought of flying in the formation, he said "Awesome!"

For more detail on a single Tigercat, see:

Our thanks go out to the pilots and owners of these aircraft for keeping them flying and sharing them with us.

  • whats with the elevator music

  • It was a day or two before the Reno National Air Races and they were testing the audio system. Nope..., I didn't add it; just wanted the arrival of Tigercat #3.

  • Why do two of the three TigerCats sit lower in the back than the third? Is it an issue with their landing gear?

  • The discussion I heard dealt with the air pressure in the nose wheel strut; the pilot felt his was correct but he was going to check it.

  • I just had a Grummangasm.

  • Best looking Military aircraft ever built.

    Grumman had STYLE.

    Well think about it.

Grumman designed the Gulfstream...the best looking Private aircraft on the planet.

  • I know nothing about this airplane! Pacific night fighter, maybe?

  • I saw 2 of these at Chino last year. Amazing.

I'd take a Mosquito if there was one.

The F7s sounds great (2 B17 engines I believe), but nothing sounds better than a Merlin, except the Griffon. They had a Griffon-powered Fairley at Chino as well. Fast as hell.

  • How would this stack up to the British Mosquito in speed. Love the sound of those

    engines.

  • Awesome video

  • @verdemanthe1 the airfield is a giant elevator, can't you see?

  • what beautiful aircraft

  • That was pure magic...3 ship low pass followed by a missing man......thankyou for posting!!

  • I love elevators.
