Now, after being in a foster home, Martha is more confident. Her foster mom reports that Martha is really quite the ham at home, playing with the other dogs, sleeping in bed in night and just showing herself to be a great gal! Martha can still be somewhat overwhelmed at the shelter, but we know that she will adjust to a new home as well as she has to her foster home.
What my foster parents have to say about me:
4/19/11: Martha is an enjoyable, adorable, good-natured little girl. She likes to play with other dogs and has a sturdy build so she could go into a home with larger dogs and play with them.
She is quite sweet and loves to lounge in the room with her person. She now enjoys being picked up and held --- but not for too long. She lets you know when she wants you to put her down. Otherwise her big snuggle time is when she snuggles next to me in bed at night. She sleeps throughout the night without an accident (however, if she gets off the bed at night there is a 100% chance she needs to go out).
Martha likes to play fetch with a tennis ball and lets you know it's time to stop when she does not bring the ball back. She also loves to run around the yard trying to induce my hounds to chase her and to chew on marrow bones. Martha is doing well with her housebreaking but regularly must be taken out and taken out pretty quickly once she gets up in the morning.
Martha desires to please her person, is smart, and is highly trainable. Although she barks when she sees people or dogs while out on a walk her barking has dissipated over time and she is getting better. Martha is not an alpha and she does lack a degree of self-confidence so she would do well in a home with another dog with a calm self-confidence.
Martha makes me laugh and smile every day and she would make a great companion for a single person, a couple without children, or a family with children 13 or older (because she is still "mouthy" I do not recommend her going to a home with children under age 13).
What my trainers say about me:
5/21/11: Martha was initially timid when training began at the beginning of the week. As the week progressed, she gained confidence and is now doing really well on sit, watch, touch and leave it. Good work!
What my friends have to say about me:
Martha got a trip to the park over the weekend, and she enjoyed herself immensely. At first, she was a little overwhelmed by all of the people and dogs, but after a few barks, we gently corrected her, and she went on her way filled with charm and peace.
We had another dog with us too with a little more energy than Martha has, but she kept up great and took rests when she needed them. She has a lot of spunk, and I could tell the time outside with us and the other pup was just what the doctor ordered for Martha.
I hope she is adopted soon because someone is missing out on spending time with this loving and gentle doggie.
GinGin is an incredible dog. She loves attention from her person but she is not needy at all. She is content to be in the same room with you chewing on toys. Gingin rarely barks and does quite well with other dogs. Martha (small dog page) is her BFF. They wrestle and play chase in the yard.
GinGin loves to play fetch and go on walks. She is housebroken when kept on a schedule. She loves sleeping on my bed and makes sure she had the spot right next to me. GinGin would be a great dog for a single person, a couple or a family with children. She is a delightful low key companion inside the house and a playful friend outside. She always will put a smile on your face and will be utterly devoted to her person.
What my trainers say about me:
5/21/11: Gingin did great even from her very first training session! She is doing beautifully on sit, watch and touch. She is also working on loose leash walking. What a great girl!!
