I do not understand why being 5'8 means Coria can't be a good player, or why someone even said he was on drugs >.>. I am Coria's hieght and I can serve at 110 on some of my good serves and I am not even better than most 4.0 players!!

@AndyRoddick70 Gaudio is the same size, actualyl! I do agree that it's a real shame what happened to both of them. Both of them weren't as strong mentally, but boy could they play, especially on the clay!! It was a joy to watch them play when they were at their best. What happened to Coria at that 2004 RG final is really sad though. From steamrolling Gaudio, to getting the nerves to cramps, to Gaudio starting to play much better to the the match points...Real shame.

@sarasmilepiano Say what you want about Coria but his record proves that he had a gift for the game. 3 years in a row in the Top 10 and 4th round or better in all GS is no joke. Few tennis players can claim this.

@AndyRoddick70 Actually Guillermo was listed as 5'9 but then again I would take those stats with a grain of salt as they are self-reported. Yes, total agreement with you- Coria had a tremendous amount of talent. I would actually liken him to Rios and Santoro in terms of court craftiness. And he had one of the best droppers in the biz. Unfortunately, his confidence was shot after FO final and this affected his serve. Also being undersized he just couldn't hang with the big guns.
-
@simplemonde WTF are you talking about? Coria had major confidence issues..if your referring to confidence as a drug Coria sould never score.

Coria's game reminds me of Hewitt

si coria fuera mas fuerte psicologicamente, hoy estaria con 1 o 2 dos GS en el bolsillo!..Esos colores que el amaba para mi fue lo que los llevo a la debacle (river) (broma)..pero bueno!

Hey everybody, Nalbandian has a real talent in tennis, Coria was on drug during all his career. How a so small boy could play like this, he doesn t has the weight to do what he does. After his logical loss to Gaudio all the control were reinforced, that also the reason he stoped because he would never play like a world ranking without drug. Nalbandian has a real talent in tennis but he was not always motivated

@gabe228 Actually, both have similar career stats despite Coria retiring very prematurely. Couldn't win the easiest RG final despite the man who stood across the net having beaten NALBANDIAN convincingly in the previous round. Too funny. I'm done with you, cheers. And Ferrer beating Coria, lol, I'll be telling people that for laughs.
-
@gabe228 Wow, I see that I've responded to the wrong child here. I won't make the mistake again but anyway. Ferrer can't make a grand slam final, let alone be up two sets and on the verge of winning. Coria won several prestigious clay court tournaments, what has Ferrer won? And it's not like Nadal is his only obstacle, he has been beaten by lots of players on clay. And Nadal beat Coria in 2005 when he won RG, as well as several other MS that year, strong knowledge.
Coria was so good for his size I mean the man is only like five foot eight and a hundred and fourty pounds and he could keep up with the best of them. It's a shame that he had to get discouraged after loosing that terrible loss in the french open to Gaudio.
