[HD] Marx generator 5cm spark

Here's my first Marx generator, currently with 7 stages, out of 11 max on this board (I need more HV capacitors).
It is powered by a 555 driver Flyback, at it gives a 5cm spark and a good frequency at 6V input.

Why do you need the resistors?

What would happen if you didn't use them?

Would that melt the wires?

@kmncztms the resistors are used to charge the capacitors

All the resistors look the same value to me, Am I wrong?, It looks like 10 Ohms...please tell me what is the value!

@blackmesa25 thanks . they are 6KV connected 3 in series for 18KV. This is not my latest setup, see my other video with the latest Marx generator
