@bucky468 Queen I actually liked until the early 80's...after that I tuned out. But you're missing the point...Queen was not hair metal. Let's get back to basics here, in the late 80's pop metal was all looking and sounding the same. People were ready for a change in music. If you still listen to it, good for you. I hated it, and always will hate it. Like Flea said, they're all poster children for bad music.

@huntr7777 And Steve Perry era Journey is not even close to hair metal.

@bucky468 Bucky, I know all this already...I am a student of music I guess you could say. Just for the record, I am a die hard Pink Floyd fan. Also love The Who, Zappa, Beatles, earlier Stones, the Monkees, Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane's Addiction, Misfits, The Police, good house/techno, so I am all over the place with music. And hair metal still sucks big fat donkey balls.

@huntr7777 Perry's first album as Journey's singer was straight ahead rock. "Lights" is the softest song on the entire album. The 3 before that (pre-Perry days) were a hybrid between jazz fusion & progressive art rock just like those of Kansas & Styx which were 100% pure prog. Those 3 albums had epic tracks that were 6 min or longer which you never heard on the Perry releases. REO's 70's albums were anything but lite rock. The first 2 (REO) albums were geared more toward the prog aspect of rock.

@huntr7777 Too bad you dislike Journey. Steve Perry wasn't always its lead singer. Journey formed in 1973. (Perry) was added to the lineup in late 1977 (4 years after Journey formed.) His vocals weren't present on Journey's first 3 albums which (btw) were nothing like the arena rock or soft rock they became famous for beginning in 1979. They charted low. Out of those 3 "Next" was the highest charting album (at #85.) Perry's first Journey album was 1978's "Infinity" which made it as high as #21.

@bucky468 Journey always did suck! And I don't listen to Coldplay or any of those other bands. And I know more about music than you think...believe me. That's why I know bad music when I hear it, like Lord Tracy. But I must admit you are right when you say early Styx, Heart and maybe even Kansas were good at one time before corporate rock came in and ruined everything.

@huntr7777 Journey sucks?! Hahaha!! Bet they don't suck anymore than Coldplay, Keane or the Fray. Besides Journey's best material came during the 70's before Steve Perry was w/them. Man you don't know your music well. Early Heart, Styx, Kansas & REO (back in the 70's) were all AWESOME!! Solid heavy hard rock. Styx & REO wimped out when they sold out to Top 40 radio w/the dreaded power ballad (Kiss had one too...does "Beth" ring a bell?) Boston has the best selling debut of all time.

@bucky468 Pretty much all those bands/artists you mention SUCK DONKEY BALLS! Especially Journey...gay. Man you keep digging yourself deeper, stop before you make an even bigger fool outta yourself!

@huntr7777 What about Queen? Do you think they suck too. They're another major influence on those pesky hair metal bands you hate so much (a la Bon Jovi.)
Is it just me, or are these guys EXTREMELY underrated?
