try watching this on silent while listening to Talvin singh butterfly (also on you tube) and stop debating deadly techniques and actually be still and full of joy as you watch :)

''Kata'' is in Japanese. In Chinese, the word is ''Tao'', or ''Taolu''.
And yes, the correct word is not ''DAN'' but ''DUAN'' which means something like a ''degree'' or ''level''.

ah, but that plays well to chang quan. chang quan means "long fist", longer limbs play well to it (since in Chang Quan you extend your limbs as far as you can to cover more distance). I cannot say whether it is harder or easier for a taller person to do, but regardless her height and leg length is good for Chang Quan.

"Kati" is not a Chinese word I've ever heard. What are the alleged Chinese characters for this?

Point is to build stamina, muscles and understand the movements instead of applying them on a live human being. This so called dance helps a beginners learn the basics, later on it will help them learn applications.

Chanquan have the most beauitful!!!!
But, please, don´t call "4th Dan" The Dan is a common denomination of japanese forms states....For Kung Fu Wushu, we have to call "form" or "kati".
