Overall Champions in American Smooth dancing - 2008 America's Ballroom Challenge - Tomas Mielnicki and J.T. Thomas. Their Show Dance to the music of "Seduction" by Luis Bacalov and his Orchestra - placing them 2nd. Plus ... their Honor dance at the end.
Tomas Mielnicki and JT Thomas (New York) have only been dancing together since March 2006, and has quickly moved up the ranks in their division, taking the championship this year. Tomas' first championship was at age 16, when he danced both the International Latin and Standard styles. He left his home country of Poland in 2001, moving to New York, where he met J.T. She received a B.F.A. in dance from the University of Arizona and has competed in the Theater Arts and Latin divisions as well.

JT and Tomas are truly inspiring dancers. What makes this couple so wonderful is that they aren't just beautiful dancers, they are beautiful souls. They are so goofy and down to earth, workshops with them proved to be the most fun I've ever had during a lesson. They've deserved every bit of success and God bless them as they move on to new life adventures!

I saw this on t.v. that year and let me tell you, they so deserved to be No. 1 and I have to grudgingly say that the couple who took 1st place in showdance also deserved to win as well. All in all, the right couple won overall.

I agree completely. I was frustrated as I watched the championship because the cameras spent so little time on this couple, who were I felt were clearly the best competitors. I love how their dancing uses the constraints of the various styles as focal points rather than obstacles, which is how the majority of professional dancers seem to treat them. I hope the success of Tomas and JT leads other professionals to try this approach.

Thank u so much for this. I love this couple, their moves are so beautiful. J.T. Thomas is simply one of the most talented and inspiring dancers I've ever seen.
