Telegraph Landing lies between Montgomery and Sansome; Lombard and Chestnut Streets, at the base of Telegraph Hill. It’s right below Coit Tower and right across the street from San Francisco Bay. That puts it halfway between downtown and Fisherman’s Wharf. Which means you can walk to places again. In 15 minutes you can have breakfast at Enrico’s, lunch at the Ferry Building and dinner in Chinatown. You can browse at the Cannery, shop in North Beach, watch the parrots from Telegraph Hill and go antiquing on Jackson Street. You can see passenger ships and sailing ships or just watch people and take in the flavor of one of the greatest ports in the world. You can do all of this. In fact, living at Telegraph Landing is like living the life of a tourist. Except you’ll never have to go home. You’re already there.
Telegraph Landing has four separate residential buildings plus a one story entry building. Two of these, Buildings 1 and 2, are nine and seven stories and offer single level condominium homes. Buildings 3 and 4 are four floors with individual two story town houses. The roofs of all four buildings have been designed as usable roof gardens.
The entire site is a self-contained unit focusing on an interior landscaped plaza. With fully grown trees, and meandering gardens, the plaza becomes an inviting pedestrian street for the entire Urban Village.
All accessibility to the complex is strictly controlled. Pedestrian traffic can enter only through the entry building; automobiles, with parking on the lower level, have just one entrance-exit on Montgomery Street. An overall security system further guarantees the safety of each unit. This system is overseen by a 24 hour guard on duty at the Central Control Console in the entry building.
The condominiums at Telegraph Landing are located in two elegant and sophisticated mid-rise buildings. The first is a nine story structure fronting Lombard Street. The second is seven stories facing Chestnut and Montgomery Streets. Although both buildings include the same architectural and interior details, they offer marvelously unique living space and vistas because each differs in both site location and orientation. In each structure there are three basic condominium styles from which to choose: One Bedroom and one bath. One bedroom with den and two baths. Two bedrooms and two baths. First floor units have patios while some second floor plans feature extended decks. Most other units have individual balconies. All top floor condominiums have a spectacular solarium which allow the sun and the stars to shine in and you and your guests look out. Wood-burning fireplaces are included in all units on the upper three levels and in specific plans on the floor below. Each building has its own landscaped roof garden with strolling paths, dog runs and observation desk. They’re open to all residents and guests. A fully equipped gym, sauna and steam rooms are also available on the first floor of building 2. In Building 1 there’s a furnished club room with over a thousand square feet and full kitchen facilities that can be reserved for individual use.
There are two town house buildings at Telegraph Landing. Building 3 faces Chestnut Street; Building 4 looks out over Sansome Street. They are duplicate structures, each with two central elevators; each containing 28 individual two story town houses. Except for the end units which are three bedroom plans, all others offer two bedrooms and two and one-half baths. Although they are very similar, the units on the top floor differ in three noticeable ways from those below. First, the dining room includes a glassed-in solarium. Second, a private roof garden, many of which have views across the bay, is directly accessible from inside the home. And third, the higher units offer a deck off the dining room, while the plaza level plans have an enclosed patio. Each town house is a two story plan set into a four story building. To insure maximum privacy and to take advantage of the ground level and top level spaces for patios and roof gardens, the first floor units have the bedrooms above the living area. This is then reversed in the higher plans in which the living area is above the bedrooms. The result is that the bedrooms back up to each other for greater quiet and the living room areas have no other residents directly above them.
