@Prashklop yes pinaka is indigenous but idea was taken from Russian Uragan, also we have smerch which is russian origen, smerch is deadly dangerous which can even destroy tanks & howtizers too.

@TheEupot The Indian, Bofors guns are of the 1980's era in the Rajiv Gandhi period and caused quite a scandal, which is still going on. Most of these guns are not of good repair as Bofors corp has been blacklisted by the Indian Govt on charges of Corruption. Due to all this headache, the OFB has decided to make its own 155mm Howitzer and i am guessing,not sure, a 105mm field gun.

@gauravcurious  THe Pinaka is not of Russian Origin but by our very own DRDO. And India is looking at M777 Howitzers, not M270, which are of British origin. Also.... The m270 is MLRS not an Howitzer. SAAB Gripen is out of the MMRCA race. which prolly means India is not getting it. No offence but yu have got a lot of facts wrong my friend. Please research, Jus a friendly Advice.

@TheEupot prior to Kargil war in 1999, there was a peace pact between India & Pakistan, which Pakistan deceivingly violated, & launched a massive attack on border-patrolling troops by heavy guns & mortars, than India launched a fierce joint attack by air force & army. at that particular time we used swedish bofors howitzers for the first time ever sice we purchased. also we used Pinaka mbrl of russian origen to thrash the enemies from seemingly impossible heights.

@TheEupot India is possibly purchasing gripen from Sweden . howtizers India is purchasing this time from US. possibly M-270 towed howtizers. India will not purchase new models of Bofors but has already started indigenous large -scale production, which is very much similar to bofors models, that can be towed to any place even on steep hills. do u know we always keep way ahead of pakistani terrorists as pakistan is a known nuisance on earth & a back-stabber nation.:D

@gauravcurious Yeah i have read alot about the kargil war and im really impressed =) But why didn't india by a newer model from bofors, it performed best in all tests in India and still they went with a crappier manifacturer and model ?

40mm bofors AA-gun to pierce armor KA50. And in a helicopter and an airplane is not close to AA-gun. KA50 destroy any object at the distance of 10-12 kilometers. Encapsulated heavily armored cockpit and provides protection against armor-piercing bullets up to 12.7 mm and OFZ shells caliber to 23 mm. shooting at close range.
