This crash happened at Houston Motorsports Park on 7-9-2011 during the legends feature race. Two cars collided on the front stretch and one burst into flames. Safety crews came and got the driver out quickly, but the fuel fed fire was stubborn. Luckily no one was injured and both drivers walked away
if you will look at the back of the track there is a drag track where there have had some bad wrecks they have had some drives hurt for not haveing a good safety team .so i will not be going back .........not be going back //////////

Maybe the safety crew should stay in the truck while the race is running. Try using a dry chemical fire extinguisher for fuel fires You can use water to help cool the hot service but only a dry chemical will put the fire out. Get rid of the Co2 that has no place on a race track. And like arffrlife said, get some fire suits. The liability for the race truck if you get burned is big

Any driver that thinks a good quality race suit and gear isn't necessary should watch this video... That car was engulfed in flame over 1 full minute from the start of this video until they finally found a fire extinguisher big enough to put the fire out.

Why is the track safety team not wearing any form of safety NOMEX or firefighting gear? Why are so many track workers running up to a vehicle on fire in "SHORTS"? I have watched this over many races at this park. It's just plain stupid. Maybe track officials or the owner will get the point when someone gets burned running up to a vehicle or sued for lack of safety equipment.
