The Right to Education: Is Volunteerism the New Way Forward?
Given the acute shortage of teachers in government schools in rural India in particular, lack of infrastructure and facilities, the yet to be passed Right to Education bill , may become just another legislation, with little systemic reform to ensure implementation. In the last few years, there has been a huge surge in the interest in volunteerism in the education sector. Is volunteerism a sustainable proposition in educating millions of children in India? This session will seek to explore the facets of this new idea, while suggesting the way forward in bringing change in the all important education sector.
