This is the wackiest method out there. It worked for me though! Each person has their own custom method. Here's mine. Sorry about the fracked notes. I'm a trumpet player. What can I say? Don't hate too much. Just trying to get the general idea across. Hope it helps you guys. And for you pros, I can out scream all of you. Laugh if u must.
lol i play the same exact way, only i use a number 2

Why not work on playing high on your regular chops so switching embouchures isnt such a crutch?

I love how the dog walks in the room wondering what's making all the racket. This method works, but is difficult to control (without a lot of practice using the "alternative" embouchure). And it's tough to play ascending licks when you don't have time to reset the chops. I DO AGREE that everyone's face is different. Experimenting on your own will find what works best for you. If this works for you that's great. Congratulations!

Thank you for this great tip. Im going to have to try it tomorrow in Jazz Band. We are playing Big Dipper by Thad Jones and im having trouble playing the high G so i will try this method.

the highest note i could ever reach on trumpet was probably the G or A, and as i attempted those my face looked crazy as hell. Trombone however, I could got pretty damn high. i never played trumpet in school, just as a hobby. it was enjoyable but trombone was always my instrument once i switched from sax in 7th grade... are you a professional trumpet player?
