I have been afforded the opportunity to live in a Country where it is not only alright, but almost necessary to have friends of different backgrounds. Although I have seen ignorance and racism, the overwhelming majority of Canadians understand what it means to have a multicultural appreciation for its citizens. I could not imagine what my life would have been like if I did not have Chinese, Korean, Pakistani, Irish, Chilean, Indian, First Nations, Jordanian, Lebanese, Guyanese etc... Friends.

Some of my best friends growing up were Pakistani Muslims, and the gentleness and kindness I associate with them and their families is lost in translation by media and entertainment. Sadly we as a society(I am from Canada) stand silent too often when we see people being wrongfully portrayed. Imagine the anguish felt by your friends feeling disconnected because we don't have the intestinal fortitude to stand up for what we know to be true. I wish everyone had the friends I have... HUMAN!
