Ms Saori Yano inspired from Charlie Parker at the age of 9・・in the brassband in primary shool. She debuted at the age of 16 from Savoy label. This album"SAKURA STAMP" is her 3rd album. She plays Parker's famous tune "Donna Lee" completely like a Charlie Parker! The side player's are US jazz headliners at this moment. Very nice and cute^^♪

Saori Yano(alto sax)
Eric Alexander(tenor sax)
Nicholas Payton(trumpet)
Mike LeDonne(Hammond B1)
Peter Bernstein(guitar)
Joe Farnsworth(drums)

Recorded Nov,21、22 2004 in Tokyo

  • @PetersJazz1 Thank you for watching^^!Right! This tune is very short, but her playing is Charlie Parker reproduced faithfully?

    She is evolved increasingly.

  • @hanj31 never imagined that Jazzists in Korea are not even close to American Jazzists. Thx for info

  • innumerable talented saxophonists in our country get out of here! 99% of korean saxophonists can't play jazz the way it should be played. Those 99% wouldn't know the musical difference between a coltrane tune and a charlie parker tune! I have heard sax players in Korea everytime I go back to see my family on breaks and they suck! I could play like them in 12th grade! But then again they weren't able to take lessons from good sax players like me since the best sax players are here in the US!

  • @xinx03ovcm Thank you for watching^^! Ms Yano Is very young. She did not experienced any night club gig, because here in Tokyo, night club is very difficult to find at this moment. I do almost understand what you say.But she controlled tenor sax very well. your english skill is very well rather than me,if you don't understand, please give a new comment for me.

    Many many thanks♪♪

  • @navitimer54 Sadly, not as popular either....but don't be discouraged; the sax is used extensively in K-Pops, old korean pops & jazz music. There are innumerable talented alto & tenor saxophonists here. The instruments have some connotation of "night club music," though. In Jazz, sax rules.
