"Amazing Grace" was written in the 1700's by a reformed slave trader named John Newton. Newton nearly lost his life at sea when his ship came through a great storm. He credited God with sparing his life and his crew, and it was at that time that he gave his life to God. He wrote this song later in life, though I think there are a couple more verses to it. Amazing Grace is one of the most recognized pieces of music ever composed. These are the chords and lyrics.
G.............................C..............G...........................................D
Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me
G...........................C...........G.............................D...C.....G
I once was lost but now am found, was blind but now I see
G........................................C...........G................................D
Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved
........G........................C...........G.......................D..........C.....G
How precious did that grace appear, the hour I first believed.
G...............................C.....................G...............................D..........
Through many dangers, toils, 'n snares, I have already come
....G....................................C................G............................D........
Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far and grace will lead
.....C.........G........................
me home.
G.......................................C................G............................................
When we've been here ten thousand years, bright shining
........D.............
has the sun
G...............................C.................G...............................D.........
We've no less days to sing God's praise than when we first
...G.................................
begun."
one of my favorite hymns. Always like to listen to you play and sing. Great Job.
