Samba Con Gustavas performed by
James A. Gray (Drums).
I do not know why I bother to put anything in this section since so many of you decide to make comments without reading the description or responses to previous comments but here it goes anyway...
First off, I did not write or name the piece. As for the style, it states "Samba/Rock/Funk Fushion".
Many of you are arguing that there is no "Samba" in this piece. I would have to argue against that. I believe the root/5th samba and tumboa rhythm patterns on the Bass as well as the supporting piano part qualify as pretty standard Samba.
Maybe the problem is that I took liberties with the "fushion" aspect of the part. My foot work on Bass Drum and Hi-hat are definately Samba but I borrowed from Cascara and Mambo rhythms on the ride. Of course the standard drumset adaptation of a conga montuno pattern on the snare and toms fits just about any specific latin style though.
Alright, the part I played in the middle was not "Samba", but the music asked for a transition from samba to the Half-Time Funk/Rock.
So hopefully you have read this before you decided to simply comment "This is not a Samba, North Americans are stupid" without any sort of explanation. If you still disagree with me or the composer after reading this, could you at least elaborate on your complaint?
Thanks!
I was borrowing some equipment for another project and decided to record this excert. I was a little off in the beginning, but there was no click or count off.
