We don't care how many of these cars Donald Trump sold in The Apprentice last year. Road & Track International Editor Sam Mitani invites the BMI crew to Streets of Willow to test GM's new sports FR. Keiichi Tsuchiya was in for a surprise!

  • @derbigpr500 The old Opel GT has nothing to do with the kappa platform that the new Opel GT runs on. The kappa platform was designed by GM in the states. It was first used on the Opel (because GM, at first, didn't use it) before it shortly came out as the Solstice. It's an all American design.

  • "The gas pedal is like a extra steering wheel for a FR car!" Love it!

  • @derbigpr500 Oh, and the only difference between Opel GT and Soltice apart from looks is that Solstice has a 2,4l naturally aspirated engine, and Opel GT has a 280hp turbocharged engine.

  • "this doesnt feel like the american cars i know". Of course it doesnt lol. Its not an american car, its based on Opel GT (a german car) which has been around since 1968, improved many times and sold in europe for a long long time. GM started to offer this car on american market only from 2006 or 2007, and its not a new car. Why they claim its a new "all american" car, i dont know, probably as a commercial. The only american thing about it is the body and interior.

  • gearshift floats around way too much..! 03:15

  • Get the GXP and redo the show and see what happens.

  • @solman182 I agree with you, but and s2k brand new is 35k! The MX-5 and Soulstice are attainable under 20k. You really can't compare the two performance wise. At least these two roadsters existed for those who couldn't afford a brand new car. I'd still buy a used s2k though lol.

  • @2003SCT Yeah I dont like that honda doesnt have a sports car anymore. And the Miata is cool, came before the s and its a cult culture car, it aint goin away any time soon. and the elise is sick. and the elise is pretty expensive new, 50 grand i think. Pontiac should of used their money to make an absolutely badass american small sports car, to me, the solstice is trying to hard to be like the japs

  • Honda civic SI Honda civic type r Honda nsx

  • @NUGNESS123 I do axe the used car market when its a very different car at a very different price point. Than what do you make of the Miata? Why would anyone ever buy one when they can buy a "superior" S2000 for cheaper? Why would Pontiac ever make any sports car because in your mind the S2000 would be superior no matter what they made, right? I would never buy a new S2000 when I can pick up a 100x cooler Elise for cheaper. Now Honda has NO sports car and not even ONE "sporty" one. Nice Honda.
