We hiked the Wakely Mountain Fire Tower in the Adirondacks on Sept 30,2011. The hike started off with a 2 mile leveled walking path with many streams running through it and parallel to it. As you arrive at the last 1 mile then the uphill work starts. It seems like more than 1 mile with all the switchbacks! When you arrive at the top the fire tower is 80 feet tall. Highest in the Adirondack region. We did not enter the cab at the top since there was a very small ladder to get into it and no barriers to protect you from falling. The views from the top were amazing!
