  • WHY was this not on King of Limbs!?! this is way better than at least half of that album

  • He is such a perfect middle aged man, yet he's completely flawed, which makes him better than perfect.

  • @LowleyUK But the majority of the population will never become islamic or fascist, no matter what scare stories the media at large put out. Nevermind the entire population, most muslims living in Britain are against Sharia Law. In America, 71% of the population is white, and that's counting latinos who consider themselves to be white (minus latinos it's 63.7%). And they're still considered the most racist and authoritarian nation in the western world.

  • @96Optimistic Because unfortunately the world is not altruistic and this kind of mentality would be taken advantage of.

You didn't even acknowledge my point about demographics? How can you say people won't vote for sharia or facism if the majority of the population becomes islamic or facist? Bosnia is a frightening example of this.

  • @LowleyUK But we're all just humans living on a planet - why should man-made borders matter? Protect the world's interests first.

Multiculturalism is the belief that many cultures can live together in one place. This isn't something that is destructive. And people won't vote for sharia law, just as they wouldn't vote for far-right ultra nationalists.

  • @LowleyUK But please don't conflate that kind of nationalism with the fervent, fanatical ideology espoused by certain far right groups; they are beyond the pale. They do not have a monopoly over it, just as they don't over the Union Jack.

Multiculturalism is a destructive idea because it's the belief in everything, which is the same as the belief in nothing! In two generations time when the country's demography has totally changed, who's to say common law is superior to sharia?

  • @96Optimistic Oops, sorry, type "demography of England" in Wiki for what I meant.

In reverse order, by nationalism I mean the kind of spirit that won us the WW2, people pulling together in common purpose, protecting British interests, not selling our assets abroad for short term economic gain. Look at prosperous Japan for example. My libertarian views are things to do with freedom, fairness and treating people as individuals. I read a lot of Orwell and things like Areopagitica are important.

  • @LowleyUK there was no 2009 cencus, but okay. I'm still unsure about how our culture has changed so dramatically or why it's such a bad thing in your opinion? I personally believe that multiculturalism is merely the acceptance of other human beings with differing views into your society. Other cultures can have a lot to offer for us.

I'm unsure, however, how you can mix libertarianism and nationalism? Just out of curiosity, because I'd consider myself a libertarian.

  • @96Optimistic Yes, we have practically signed over our sovereignty. I think the EU now responsible for 3/4 of the new legislation that is made (I'm not 100% about that though).

Just for the record, I'm not actually some right wing monster, I am a cocktail of environmentalism, libertarianism, nationalism (In the good sense, not Orwell's definition) rationalism & mild conservatism.

  • @96Optimistic England was 82% white British in the 2009 census, but it's not necessarily about race, it's about culture. This is the biggest demographic change in history and not something that should be shrugged off at first glance. Who knows, maybe it will lead to a multi-racial utopia, but you must also consider the opposite.

Multiculturalism is a known failure - it has been widely criticised by MPs - but a few years ago you were considered an extremist to hold this opinion...

  • @LowleyUK Oh, and just thought I'd say that I agree with you on the EU. It's a corrupt, undemocratic organisation. We should have had another referendum on our membership a LONG time ago.

  • @LowleyUK Mass immigration barely even exists - the country still is 92% white british. And even so, why should 'borders' stop human beings choosing where they want to live. British culture is moving on. Why not accept its progression rather than fighting for a return of old traditions. And these changes are being brought on by young people, not immigrants.

And just for the record, I'm not saying that you are a xenephobic racist or whatever, just that a lot of what the mail writes is.
