1996 Women's 100m Olympic final

This is the 100m final in 1996 at the Atlanta Olympic Games. My favorite athlete, Gail Devers, repeated as the 100m Olympic champion by winning gold over Merlene Ottey of Jamaica by five-thousandths of a second. Gail is only the second woman in history to win two consecutive olympic 100m titles since Wyomia Tyus back in 1964 and 1968. Gwen came in as the favorite with her win at the trials, and the prediction was that Merlene would get silver and Devers third.

NO...stop the madness!!! Gail Devers won this FAIR AND SQUARE in 1992 and 1996! Give the woman her props and stop being a hater. This is not about American, Jamaican, or anything like that; the photographs show it all clearly. Given another meter, Ottey would have handed GD's ass to her, HOWEVER, this is not 101 meters, it's 100 meters, and GD kicked her ass in 1992 and 1996 fair and square. Get over it!

this is a waste. the commentary before and after the race is what makes it exciting and worth watch. 14 seconds.

why record 14 seconds? the build up to race and the anticipation of the wait after they ran is what made this such a historic 100M race. I had this entire race on VHS somewhere. the victory lap of Gail, followed by the lap she and Gwen Torrence ran together. That was a great Olympics here in Atlanta.
