Im thinking of getting some of these in my tank, but don't want to get ones which would hide away. Are they really shy? have you got open spaces in your tank and is yours heavily planted?

Very nice video! I have about 9 of these in my 20 planted right now, hoping they start spawning soon.

Another egg-saving device is a piece of window screen bigger than the aquarium draped in the water. The eggs fall through the holes in the screen. You may put in a shoal or a pair. I geuss anything would work, but just make sure the parents can not get to the eggs or else they will eat them.

All Danio species are the number one top rated fish for beginers because they have no special requirments and are very hardy. People use danios to cycle aquariums because of this trait. I used a Zebra and a Leopard Danio to cycle my own fish tank, and they both survived and are still very healthy.

"They don't seem to have a long lifespan though, mine that I bought last year as adults have all but one diminished now!"
Good to know. So far, I have only seen them sold one place online. Too bad the shipping is so much.

did you use plants or marbles for the eggs to "hide" from the parents. im going to be breeding them and marbles are really expensive. any other ways

actually zebra danios get up to 3" and pearl danios get only 1". so really pearl danios are a third of the size of zebra danios.
Are these danios as hardy as zebra danios?
Nice video by the way!

They are quite hardy, but smaller about half the size of the zebra danio, so they should be kept with small fish or on their own!
They don't seem to have a long lifespan though, mine that I bought last year as adults have all but one diminished now!

Yes, they have spawned several times, problem is though that usually only one female get ready to spawn at any one time, they don't spawn all at once!
I have been too lazy to get them out of the spawning tank yet, so they probably eat the fryes as they hatch!
