learning that "nothing matters" (and that anyone can see) is an evolutionary step that Howie is not ready to make due in large part to his inability to overcome his mental inertia and the boundaries built up by his ego. Booze is not helping his development as it slows the processes of nature that bring growth and change.

@eraileuz777 meditation is calming the waters in your head to see things more clearly in a natural fashion. For some people, they require goggles and dive instructors to see what's in them.
