As I recall, the piece was commissioned by Casanova - which explains (sort of) the "interaction" between the pianists.

Be that as it may, it's still a delightful little piece for piano four hands.

@FiddlerAdam Borge and Anna Russell to a degree, but Schickele's big influence is Spike Jones...he's mentioned that a couple of times. Some years back, he did a concert in a nearby theater whose stage manager toured with Spike Jones. He told me that Schickele pumped him for stories.
