This video is deceptive as verizon isn't selling all of it's wired phone business but is selling those lines in rural and less densely populated areas such as in the mountainous West and the Plains areas. In fact the majority of these areas were those areas once served by GTE that verizon merged/purchased years ago.
This video doesn't mention that verizon is keeping the wired communication areas along the Eastern seaboard, New England, etc. as those are still VERY profitable for verizon.
