Yoga & wellness expert Tara Stiles sits down with Kris Carr, author of "Crazy Sexy Diet" and "Crazy Sexy Cancer," to talk about what a plant-based diet (especially juicing) can do for your health, and how to get started. When Kris was diagnosed with cancer, she researched diets linked to longevity all over the world and discovered the tremendous benefits of vegetables (and green vegetables in particular, such as kale, romaine, celery, spinach, and cucumber) and fruits, especially the powerhouse of vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, and disease-fighting antioxidants found in these foods. How can you get started? Get creative, says Kris, and use a three-to-one ratio - meaning a mix of three vegetables to one fruit. Aim to cover half of your plate in fresh produce; this gives you tons of fiber. Thanks for sharing this! I've been feeling the pull to improve my diet and to go more towards a vegan and raw diet. I have kidney disease and have had a transplant and definitely could use the help in an energy boost and also the pure foods to offset the medications I have to take to keep my transplant.
