Today I transferred my newts to a bigger aquarium, having bought a cave and a few pipes for them to hide in. They were a bit hyper at first, but have now calmed down quite a lot!

The tank is a work in progress, I went to get some plants today but the pet store was out of stock. Initially I put in a tub filled with sphagnum moss for them to climb out onto, but I was worried they might hurt themselves on the plastic edge so I took it out. If anyone has any ideas as to the best way to construct a safe "climbing out" area I would be grateful for some advice.

  • Add water. Spanish Ribbed Newts (As all newts) need a level of water at least equal to their lenght. They like to swim.
