Zoom In Online continues Pursuit of Design, a multipart series on Compostmodern 08, an interdisciplinary design conference that explores the ways design and business can blend through the lens of sustainability.

In the last installment of Compostmodern 08, the CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi S, Adam Werbach, explains why design should instigate a people's revolution that will change the way we interact with our surroundings. Through his involvement with the less-than-popular Wal-Mart corporation, Adam has actually been able to implement a "Personal Sustainability Practice" that has improved the livelihoods of the many Wal-Mart associates. Not only does it promote zero waste production and the sole distribution of green products, but it also encourages the stores' workers and shoppers to engage in healthier practices for the long-term.

  • One of my all time favorite internet marketing secrets actually starts offline. I always insert a CD or DVD in with every order as an unadvertised bonus. When the customer gets the package and discovers more than they thought they were getting, they become instantly excited and curious. They listen or watch and in many cases they order something else!

  • He was inspirational.
