Here we have the Chinatown evening compost collection to its finest in SF. This is an Autocar/Leach RL collecting compost from the various markets around Chinatown. At about 4:45, all the merchants start pulling out boxes of old produce and garbage as well as cans. At about 5:00, both trucks, CC7 (which you will see later) and this guy roll into Chinatown and pick up everything. The merchants help them out a lot, or else they would be there a long time loading boxes. The driver with the SF Giants hat was one of the funniest drivers I've ever met, he made the experience so much better. If anyone is wondering 302/307 means that this truck is used for two routes.

Enjoy the boxes getting crushed and the Chinatown experience!

  • If I loved Trashman242's Chinatown compostable material collection video, then I sure as f**k have loved this one. Really frendly driver there and LOTS of stuff being collected. However, there's just too much cardboard there being recycled in the wrong way. They should really have the recycling truck come a few minutes before the composting truck. That'd make sense IMO.

Oh and uh.... how can I not favorite this. Liked as well. Great Job.

  • @RainbowDisposal Thank you very much! I see what you mean with the cardboard, however, most of it is waxed and the recycle driver (who comes in the a.m) would have to dump the compost out of them somehow then take them. Since they are waxed then they can be composted. Thanks for the fav!

  • This is one extremely interesting collection system... everybody puts all their waste out at the same time in the evening and everyone also gets involved with the actual collection! Those folks over in Chinatown throw a lot out - I saw both sides of the street were packed!!! I noticed a lot of cardboard being thrown in too... I understand it is all composted, but wouldn't a recycling service be more ideal; is there a commercial recycling collection? I bet that truck's hell heavy when full!

  • @MitchellM15 It's very cool, I agree after seeing it personally. The cardboard can go with the compost, and I believe they do a few recycling bins in the early morning.

  • I like how everyone gets involved when the trash truck comes! haha

  • @trashmaster684 haha yeah. Everyone enjoys it. It is an everyday thing, drivers see people every day and make friends with them.

  • @RainbowDisposal they are waxed hence un-recyclable in the conventional way. so instead of being sent to a landfill it is composted and used to make your wine taste just that good! (or any produce from northern california)

  • @r6man2

I understand the whole dumping out the compostables thing. But I was referring to the flattened and already empty boxes.

  • awesome footage!

  • Very Nice Man! Never seen a double tipper!

  • @r6man2 Awesome! When are you going to post that? Soon?

  • omg man! sweet
