It's not so much a question of it being a white girl singing a black song as much as it is the fact that there was no spark, no real humor behind the piece. She was just singing.

Really people? It's called blind casting...how many time have we seen sharks played by blacks in west side story...But I do think as far as her performance goes, that she should have played it a bit more "sarcastic" like a white girl being black....cuz in my opinion I feel she came up a bit short...

I think she was wonderful!!!!!!! It took alot of guts to sing that song and she did it well.

The show was about people playing parts outside the norm. Meaning men singing girl parts, women dressing as men and singing. And yes, a white girl playing a black role.
