My Copperband Butterfly feeding with my other fish in quarantine. He loves the frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp and freshwater clams. My advise to anybody having problems with their copperband butterfly not eating- start with dropping in a cracked open, freshwater clam. After about two of those a day, drop in some thawed-out frozen bloodworms. Mine goes crazy for those foods. He's always cruizing at the top of the tank when he sees me and waits for the food drop. Eats like a pig, but not like my Blue-jaw Trigger, that dude is like a grunting, wild pig.

  • I wouldn't put a copperband butterfly in a 40g tank. If youre lucky enough to get one to eat, and its a small specimen, it MIGHT be ok. Stress is the number one fish killer. Make sure you can provide a somewhat stress-free living environment. This means plenty of hiding spots for security, and a food supply they like.

  • Do frequent water changes is pretty much the only way to keep the nitrites low without a biological filter. Thanks for the compliment. That's only my quarantine though. I'll shoot some vids of my show tank once the fish are back in it.
