The vocal chords are a delicate organ... Anders used to growl with his vocal chords. To do this live every night would definitley cause damage or polyps to form which can lead to surgery and severe long term damage. He now screams with his false chords (by squeezing the air through his upper throat), Its the proper technique that allows him longevity and minimal damage. and I think when it gets as raw as that, who gives a shit what it sounds like... its metal. \m/. .\m/
