Australia PM rescued amid protests

Australian PM Julia Gillard and leader of the opposition Tony Abbott have had to be rescued by their security staff after a protest became violent.

About 50 police escorted the pair from Canberra's Lobby restaurant after it was surrounded by some 200 supporters of the city's Aboriginal Tent Embassy.

They had been handing out medals at a ceremony as the country marked Australia Day.

Australian police needs serious training on how to provide proper protection. Firstly, there was no reason to rush her out like this. My understanding is there were 200 protestors and 90 police officers. Secondly, to drag her like a piece of meat was so undignified. If you look at the final scene, there were more police and reporters there than actual protestors. Absolute disgrace.

We are different, and we treat most Aboriginals with respect. But the choose to be homeless racist pigs and live on the streets with their free centrelink money.
