If you play multiplayer regularly you'll know that most servers don't get updated instantly, or right away. The reason behind this is that the developers of Bukkit (for example) - www.bukkit.org have to fix their versions accordingly.

This means that servers will stay at the previous version of minecraft for a few days, just until a new recommended build for the new version is publish.

This short guide will explain how to back up your minecraft folder, and jar to ensure you can continue playing Multiplayer Minecraft.

Let's start of by going to your Minecraft folder, to do type press Start and type in "%AppData%" then double click the ".minecraft" folder. In here you'll see all your screenshots, texture packs, mods etc. Most importantly you'll see the bin folder. This is where the minecraft.jar file is stored.

So let's start by selecting all the files and folders and putting them into an archive. If you're on Windows 7 simply select them all, then right click and select Send to, then Compressed Folder. That's the first part done.

Now lets be more specific. We'll just backup the minecraft.jar file. To do this go into the "bin" folder. Once inside this folder, look for your minecraft.jar file. Once found do the same as before, right click and select Send to, then Compressed Folder.

That's you. You're all done backing up your file. When Minecraft asks you to update, click no if you want to continue playing on servers like TheMineville.com.

If you have any problems, let me know in the comments or contact me. This tutorial was made for TheMineville.com.
