  • I just filled out my paperwork for my name cahnge. I CANT WAIT, all I need is a job so I can pay for the damn thing! One question for you, you had your gender changed as well? I didnt think you had SRS yet, so how did you get that done? Hope to hear from you!

  • NYC is pretty progressive, so all I needed to get my gender changed on my drivers license was a note from my doctor saying that I'd been undergoing hormones replacement therapy and that having a drivers license that matched my presented gender was a safety issue. My birth certificate still says male though because it is from Utah and they're much more strict.

  • I had the exact same problem with my phone bill. Out of everything I had to change it was the hardest. I'm glad to see that the gender marker on the drivers lincense can now be changed without the surgery.

  • it depends on the state with the gender markers. NYC is pretty good about that so all I needed was a doctors notes. To change the gender on my birth certificate though I will need the surgery since I was born in Utah and they have some pretty strict laws around that. Even after the surgery my birth certificate will always show that I was born male, but that on xx date I became female. le sigh.

  • OMG!!! UR SCARY LOOKIN

  • Thank you for your responce. Unfortunatly for me, California needs a document saying you have had SRS to get your gender changed. Bummer!

  • Way to go GRISHNO. That was cool the way you helped Jackson2pt0.

  • Transition itself is hard this is just another step in the process.

You have a whole bunch of empty check boxes in your transitional life and it's now a full time job to put a check in each box.

Just keep your chin up and move forward one day at a time and expect everything you do to be a struggle.

Asking for help and for HUGS is free of charge and very simple. :)

  • I totally agree it is so worth it to get the name change. was a scary thing for me to do as well but it eliminated all the ID problems

  • And it's also an issue with changing the gender marker in many states. Not many judges will do it here, you need in most cases your doctor to testify, or a lawyer to assist. Bringing a letter and seeing a judge by yourself can end poorly.
