(Sorry audio & video are out of sync).
USA-born Pinoy started reading when he was 3 years old. One learning strategy was to use flashcards. After learning the basic Tagalog words, he was able to read English words right away. Before entering pre-school he was already reading children's books (view our other videos). You'll be amazed at how smart they really are (smarter than us). Talk to them in your native tongue and have them RESPOND as well. Mabuhay ang Pinoy!
Addendum: I've had this video for a while but just recently posted this as a video response to a Happyslip vlog due to comments to Christine (from her parents and her fans) about how children will be confused in school if they are raised bilingual. Funny how the Philippines remain bilingual and continue to suffer from the braindrain of its professionals (like nurses, therapists and engineers). Nothing against Happyslip/Christine though... we love her videos!

  • lalaki po dapat hindi "lalake":] galing ng bata. matalino!!!

  • ay oo nga! palibhasa lalake, he, he, he... salamat.

  • ganyan sana lahat ang mga pilipina na dumadayo dito sa america.

filipinos in hawaii are so, eawn di ko ma explain.. mas proud sila na nag e-emglish yung mga anak kesa turuang mag tagalog.. they are not proactive with our culture palibahsa naka tikim na ng dollar kaya yun wala na silang sense of eagerness to be pinoys.. mga walang hiya!

para sa mga pinoy sa hawaii:

ang pinoy na di tumingin sa pinanggalingan ay tinuturing na mukhang pera, garapal magpa-sosi! period!

  • Araykupo... may exception po siguro iyan. Shaka brah!
