On why Buddhists should keep a veg diet in modern times in spite of the fact that eating meat, fish, egg (and diary products) might not prevent one from enlightenment as such.

  • Unfortunately, All food causes suffering of other beings... and even vegetables kill - deaths - e.g. from the small creatures drowned when the farmers (who have to) flood fields to grow rice... & harvest the crops... to lorry dirvers and their collidees in car crashes... road kill...

    Its like we cannot escape Dukkha by only eating vege. The Dukkha of food production, transport, selling , cooking, and eating... is unavoidable, sadly.

    Dedicating our life to alleviate suffering is the only way.
