Can plug a keyboard into your computer via usb/firewire or via midi to something else plugged into your computer (check midi channel) or you can plug the audio from mic (or keyboard if creates own audio) into an audio interface (e.g. I use a PreSonus FireStudio Project) that plugs into your computer via usb or firewire. The software will detect everything plugged into your computer. You can assign where a specific track is getting its input. All in the Ableton Live manual for more detail.
Soooo badass! Incredible.

Wish you had been working for Akai or Ableton when they were developing this.
