What happens when a devoted Peugeot 504 owner compares his 35 year old car to the 407.
In this occasional series we feature people and their cars, we compare the difference in 30 years of French design and sweat.

Mark bought his 1976 GL 504 for $100! Hard to beat the price, although lack of rear brakes and the tendency of the driver's door to fly open when cornering are somewhat of a drawback.

Mark was "stoked" to drive the new Peugeot, complete with brakes and ignition on the opposite side (which fooled him for a while).

But what is it that makes him prefer his prized 504?

  • you can find a 407 anytime but where can you buy a 504 ?

  • te felicito amigo, esel mejor auto que se produjo en todo el mundo in argentina es el mas vendido desde el 1970 hasta el 2000, tengo uno 1986 y verlo con un v8 es un sueño..... CONGRATULATIONS

  • i don't get why you'd compare a $100 bomb to a $45K mid-size saloon. there's no rational reasoning behind the verdict except to say that you wouldn't spend so much on a car.

thought about safety? performance? features? the list of benefits goes on...

my dad had a 504 for 16 years but he sold it before i was born (thank goodness) and since then we haven't owned a car for more than 2-3 years at a time. i couldn't stand driving around in a car thats falling to bits.

  • Hi...i'm peugeot fanatic too, the owner of our independent peugeot garage have 504 GR in white too, very comfortable better than mine(206).

    Peugeot is wonderfull!!!!!!!!

  • Hi Mike

Your 504 movie is very fun!

  • can you elaborate on the driving experience? I don't think u liked the 407's thick c-pillar and hard ride

  • nice 504 i got 1 here in the u.s iv had it 4 years i use it every day with no problems just fixed the heater core now i got heat they ride great the seats are comfy also i added a sport steering wheel & put a loud radio with amp & kicker solo one thing i really like is the 4 wheel disk brakes next year im puting a custom paint job also got the windows tinted my 1 problem is 3 of the doors out side handle broke 1 more & i wont know how to get in.wish i could find 1 of those rear window shades

  • I had one of those. Same year too. Mine had a sunroof. No, actually it was a moonroof with a handle for manually opening and closing. I bought mine for twp or three hundred dollars in 1993. It ran beautifully for a couple months...then, the electrical system failed and I was forced to abandon it in DeKalb, Illinois when I moved to Chicago. If anyone has one (in good Condition) they want to give to a good home, contact me. Seriously.

  • l agree with you on your 504. I love mine and won't part with it even though l was offered over double what it's worth.

  • congratulations, you have a really god car!!
