Here are my P90x Round 1 results, documented with 30,60 and 90 day photos. The reason I started this program is I finally was able to quit smoking after 25 years and put on a few pounds in the process. I've obtained great results for my first round! Round 2 will also include "Turbo Fire" for more cardio for my weight loss goals.

P90X's advertising emphasizes "muscle confusion", a method of cross-training and periodization achieved through switching the order of exercises and incorporating new and varied movements.[1] Muscle confusion supposedly prevents the body from adapting to exercises over time, resulting in continual improvement without plateaus.[2]
Program overview:
P90X is a 90-day program that combines a variety of exercise techniques including strength training, cardio, yoga, plyometrics, and stretching[8]. The program consists of a nutrition guide, fitness plan, calendar and series of DVD videos featuring Horton as instructor assisted by several male and female fitness models who demonstrate a variety of techniques. For workouts that require weights, for example, one of the models demonstrates the exercise using elastic resistance bands.

Exercise instructor Tony Horton had pursued a career in personal training, and had developed a series of home fitness training programs. In 1998, Horton and fitness trainer Debbie Siebers created a series of workouts called "Great Body Guaranteed". Horton's next fitness program was the "Power90 In-Home Boot Camp", which combined cardiovascular with strength training.

To date, Horton has created six different programs associated with the Power 90 name: Power 90, Power 90 Master Series, P90X, P90X+, P90X One-on-One, and P90X:MC2 [5] (released in 2011). P90X debuted in 2004 to provide a more rigorous regimen for people already experienced with Beachbody's fitness programs.

  • I'm currently doing the P90X and my workouts aren't 'pretty' either! Thank you for your very real video showing it like it is. I'm still struggling with pushups too (I just finished week 2) and I just hope I can manage to do at least one unassisted pull up and regular pushups by the time I get to day 90!

  • @hansel23bear -thank you so much for your well wishes :) As for the pushups, I really still have to alternate between ladies/mens pushup style because of the wrist issue. If I feel any type of twinge, I just go to the ladies version...no sense adding undue stress to an already painful problem. Just take it slow and you WILL be able to do the men's version...don't give up!
