  • I understand what you mean Greg I met a psychiatrist and he said he doesn't believe in ME and he put my friend through hell he sectioned him and gave him all kinds of heavy anti psychotic drugs that made him worse where he was in bed all day and then they said he had depression because he was in bed all day from the heavy sedation anti-psychotic drugs they were giving him, I witnessed all of this when I was in the mental hospital with him, absolutely horrendous, he found it hard breathing so bad

  • A big thanks for that Linda from me and others of the CFS/ME community. Ive improved enough, that what I saw on your video is now myself on a bad day. Your video was the first time Ive even seen one going how I get with this illness and as you said, yes its usually unseen. We just dont be around others when we are like this, that's all far too much body and mind overload.

I really hope you improve from this dreadful illness at least some like me. (((hugs)))

  • twopointsix- doesn't it then make you laugh if a "normal" person came into the class with the flu and people would say to that person "aww you poor thing, you look awful, maybe you should go home and rest" when you know full well that that person will be back on his/her feet as before within 3 weeks! What a mad world we live in!

They had no idea that that hour at school would have me crippling over in pain a few hours later, and resting for weeks on end trying to get back up to the level I was out beforehand. In fact, some days it made me so upset that I considered pushing myself to go to a class.... I considered pushing myself and stumbling into the room, falling all over the place in pain- just so they could see the reality of it.

I had such trouble trying to get people to understand where I was coming from. Because they only ever saw me in those rare occasions when I was well enough to go out, it's the only way they could possibly perceive me. They didn't understand that the only reason I was there was because I was well enough to do it - and the reason I was not there 99% of the time was because I simply wasn't well enough.

    Part 1/4

Hi again Greg and Linda, just wanted to say thanks so much for these videos!

I understand exactly where you're coming from with trying to get people to understand how sick you are, when they only see you on your 'good days'. I struggled for a very long time in part-time education, and as the months went by my attendence became worse and worse. It got to the point where I was attending about an hour of school a fortnight.

  • I commented on this before, wheer has it gone.

Thanks for keeping up with this to both of you.

    hugs

    jas

  • Thank you Linda for the effort you obviously put into making this video - I'm sorry it took so much out of you. Love and prayers Nigel

  • Greg cant find the NHS policy document, can you possibly email me a link so I can have a look? Thank you. Look after yourselves and love those special moments of lucidity. Love Louise Stephen
