World Business: Egypt has long been regarded as the most influential political player in the Middle East. Its one of the reasons President Obama chose Cairo to deliver his first major speech to the Muslim world. Domestically too, a programme of reform has begun to transform the countrys economic fortunes. In the first part of a new series called the Obama Effect we investigate whether Egypt can translate its political stature into increased prosperity at home.
