Well as we have already said in an earlier article, the weather once again made itself felt as the Befana unfortunately arrived in Barga in a mixture of rain clouds, mist, fog and drizzle. All in all, not very joyous occasion but the organisers of the event deftly changed foot, change direction and moved the event out of Piazza Angelio and the non-existent bonfire and instead moved everything inside in what used to be the Scottish Museum. All eyes were then on the weather forecast for the evening when the Befanotti come down from the mountains for their traditional meeting and singing in Barga Vecchia .... did it happen?

...and the answer was, a resounding YES ... there were three main groups of Befana and Befanotti moving through the city last night.

As usual they were entering houses, giving out presents to excited children and also frequenting the bars and restaurants singing the traditional Befana song and as tradition commands, were being paid for their services by being offered glasses of hot punch.
