By the way no way can you judge the sound by listening it on youtube..I heard these in person and its does fix the weakness of the older Quads..you dont even need to use the Arcici stands to fix the fizzleness of the older one and since its angle slightly different Quad actually recommend you dont use stands.

My next speakers..I own the 57 and 63's...this goes one step better..the only weak aspect compared to older ones is it makes the music a bit more sweeter in mids compare to pure neutrality of the 57's and the blinding speed of the 63's.989 goes deep to a clean 30hz while the older ones be lucky to reach even close to that range.Stiffer frame and tighter panels makes this a master in imaging and detailing...Over all one of the best panel speakers on the market hands down.

I'm not familiar with these. I used to work in an audio shop that sold ESL63's. When did these come out? They sound a bit stuffy. You should be able to fix that by experimenting with placement. No offense, hope you'll reply.
